1960-1970 Landing on the moon. Caleb Silveus and Jesse Riehle
With us landing on the moon first this showed Russia that we were the dominant country. On July 20th 1969 Neil Armstrong stepped foot on the moon as a part of the Apollo 11 mission. This was the first time a human landed on the moon. When we landed on the moon we fullfilled president Kennedy's goal of reaching the moon during the 1960s. When Neil Armstrong landed on the moon he said his famous quote, " that's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." When Apollo 11 landed it was in between the Sea of Nectars and the Sea of Tranquility.

Why did the U.S. beet Russia to the moon? It was because the U.S. had more funding and planned it better.Russia also did not have the technology that we did at that time. One of the main loses was the man in charge of running the Russian project died. Until this day there still is a U.S.A flag that was put up there by Neil Armstrong.
